Course Specifics
This class is designed for beginners to become familiar with pistols and fundamental shooting concepts. In our NRA basic pistol class, two of our certified instructors will present, analyze, and discuss a detailed PowerPoint presentation that covers topics such as firearm safety rules, different types of handguns, pistol action types, and proper shooting techniques such as stance, sight alignment and trigger control. Other topics covered are ammunition basics, firearm maintenance and cleaning techniques, plus much more. We utilize special training tools to demonstrate and instruct all techniques in a safe and controlled environment before heading out to the range to put into action all the skills learned, using our own pistols, ammunition, and targets.
The course runs from 9 am to approximately 3 pm. You will begin with instruction in a well-lit and comfortable classroom. In the afternoon, class will move outdoors to the covered pistol shooting bay. You will begin shooting with our .22 caliber pistols. These are super easy to handle and fire—and they help boost your confidence.
Handguns and ammunition will be provided. We will also have hearing and eye protection available for you. Electronic headsets will be available for purchase. Feel free to bring your own if you already have them.
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of course completion.
